JDS SICK POLICY
At JDS our main priority is the safety and well-being of our dancers. To keep both our dancers and our staff safe, please read and abide by the following guidelines. We also ask that students wash their hands (soap and water or hand sanitizer) before entering class.
Per the CDC, people with COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms from mild to severe. Symptoms can appear 2-14 days after exposure to coronavirus. Here are possible symptoms of COVID-19:
If your dancer is experiencing ANY of the above symptoms, we ask kindly that s/he stay home until symptoms have resolved. Sending a dancer to class with any of the above symptoms can put other children and staff at risk for becoming ill.
(The following guidelines are modified from Norwell Public Schools)
Here are some criteria for other childhood illnesses:
Chicken Pox: stay home 3 days after onset of new lesions and until all lesions are crusted over and note from physician
Conjunctivitis: return to dance after 24 hours of treatment
Coxsackie virus: must be fever free and feeling well to return to dance
Diarrhea: keep your dancer home until symptom free
Fever: Temperature of 100 degrees or higher. Fever free for 24 hours without fever controlling medicines to return to dance
Fifth Disease: Keep dancer home while fever present. By the time rash appears, dancer is no longer contagious
Impetigo: return to dance 24 hours after treatment starts
Lice: return to dance after treatment and nits removed
Scabies: dancer needs 24 hours of appropriate treatment before returning to dance
Shingles: stay home until rash is crusted and dry or can be completely covered
Strep throat: full 24 hours of treatment before returning to dance
Vomiting: may return to dance after 24 hours of no symptoms
For any illness or injury that requires a longer absence from dance, please alert Miss Jacqueline or your dancer's teacher.
