Lilies: Tiny Tots (45 minutes):
This class is for our tiniest dancers, ages 2-3 years old. This class will teach basic dance skills, introduction to ballet, tumbling and singing. This class is a must to try to introduce your babies to dance and fun activity with others their age.
Roses: Tiny Dancers (45 minutes):
TD1: Designed for our preschool dancers ages 3-4 years. This combo class of ballet and tumbling will teach dancers an introduction to ballet (balance, coordination, posture) and tumbling (forward rolls, etc).
Starflowers: Pre-K and K dancers (60 minutes):
Designed for our dancers ages 4-5 years, who have at least 1 year of dance experience. This is a combo class of ballet, tap and tumbling.
Pre-School Acro (45 minutes): This class will work on flexibility, balance, and motor coordination. Basic acrobatic instruction will be taught for a dance in the annual recital.
Kindergarten - 1st grade (60 minutes):
Ballet/Tap Combo: Ballet/Tap combo will teach dancers beginner ballet (bar work, position, balance, coordination, posture), tap steps and rhythm. Each class will perform 2 dances in the recital (therefore, costume fee will be $140 per class.)
Jazz/Hip Hop Combo: Jazz/Hip hop will give dancers an introduction to both jazz and hip hop dancing. Each class will perform 2 dances in the annual recital (therefore, your costume fee will be: $140 per class).
2nd/3rd Combo classes (60 minutes): This class is the next level after Young Dancers 2 (K-1st grade). There are 2 classes being offered:
Ballet/Tap Combo: Ballet/Tap combo will work on improving both tap and ballet skills and will perform 2 dances in the recital (therefore, costume fee will be $140 per class).
Jazz/Hip Hop Combo: Jazz/ Hip Hop combo will work on improving jazz and hip hop skills and will perform 2 dances in the recital (therefore, costume fee will be $140 per class) .
Jazz (60 minutes): Jazz is fast paced, fun and the most common form of dance! This class will help dancers develop proper technique, flexibility, turns and leaps. Each class will begin with a warm up and stretch session, followed by floor work and combinations. We will explore all forms of jazz dance. Jazz is loved by all!
Lyrical (45/60 minutes): Lyrical is a blend of jazz and ballet dance while telling a story. Dancers will learn the use of balance, flexibility and expression. Lyrical is a beautiful form of dance.
Tap (30/45 minutes): We love to tap here at Jacqueline's Dance Studio! This form of dance teaches rhythm and coordination along with tap basic technique. Each year you will improve your tap skills, technique and speed.
Hip Hop (45 minutes): This intense, high-energy class teaches the most popular video and street dance moves. It is funky, fast and fun! A must try and a favorite at JDS!
Ballet (45/60 minutes): Ballet is the basic foundation for all forms of dance. It teaches proper placement, poise, strength, flexibility and grace. Dancers will do bar work and combinations across the floor. Ballet is the core of dance and very important to take year after year.
*Please note that pre-pointe class is a ballet class that gets you ready to go en pointe. Teacher approval required.
Acrobatics "Acro" (60 minutes): Acro is the performance of extraordinary feats of agility, balance and motor coordination. Dancers will build strength, flexibility and coordination. Acro is performed barefoot. Acro 1 is for beginners and Acro 2 requires at least 2 years of Acro or gymnastics experience. Advanced Acro requires teachers approval. Our Acro Director will place everyone accordingly after first day
Musical Theatre (60 minutes): Musical theatre is a genre of drama in which dancing, singing and acting play an essential part. So fun!
Pre-Pointe (45/60 minutes): This class prepares you to go en pointe. It helps to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go en-pointe. *Requires teacher approval*
Pointe Ballet (45/60 minutes): "Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes," according to Wikipedia. *requires teacher approval*
LTC: Leaps, Turns, Conditioning Technique Class (30 minutes): For dance team members only. This class emphasizes technique, body alignment and strengthening of the core. In this class, JDS dancers are taught in a progressive manner, starting at basics then working up to advanced skills. Along with leaping, jumping and turning, dancers will be stretching and strengthening their bodies. This conditioning is created to not only help build stamina but to also help prepare each students bodies for difficult tricks and acrobatic passes.
Team Collaborative Technique (45 minutes): NEW CLASS!! Invitation only!! This class will focus on flexibility and mobility to contribute to performance and technique for other classes. It will focus on turns, leap and jumps too. There will be no dance in the annual recital.
